Random things…

Just wanted to put up some fun tickers…

Baby Slings at Nurtured FamilyLilypie Expecting a baby Ticker

Thanks to all for your congrats and well wishes! We’re excited! Things are good here… I’ve been feeling pretty good lately. I had the good fortune to be one of those people who hit the second trimester and starting feeling better rather quickly. Less nausea and more energy. I’ve heard that the tiredness comes back in the 3rd trimester, so I’m taking advantage of the extra energy while I can! I have also noticed I’ve had a lot more trouble remembering things lately… so pregnancy brain has definitely set in! I’ve been reading “Ina May’s Guide to Childbirth” and have been enjoying it! Do any of you other ladies have good book recommendations for someone like me planning to have a natural childbirth in a birthing center?

In other news, we had our first windstorm of the fall yesterday evening and were without power for about 6 hours or so. It was actually kind of a nice change - we went over to Doug’s sister Kerrianne’s house to play games by candlelight and to stay warm by the wood stove. Fun times. Since our power came back on as we were laying in bed ready to fall asleep, it wasn’t bad at all! But I’m good now… we certainly don’t need another huge windstorm that takes power out for 3 days to a week this year like we had last December! Anyway, now I’m just babbling… so I’ll head out for now. If all goes well I may get some pictures up this weekend! My scrapbooking weekend is just 2 weeks away now and I have to have time to print pics first! So it’s at the top of my to-do list!

An excellent book is Helen Wessel’s “Natural Childbirth and the Christian Family.” So supremely boring in places, it is still very very informative and encouraging. Also Jackie Mize’s “Supernatural Childbirth” (but follow that book w/a discussion w/ a mom who has had a med-free birth). Then there’s any book by Peggy Simkin. “Pregnancy, Childbirth and the Newborn” was pretty darn awesome, in my opinion. :) A lot of these are available at the library or ask around, I’m sure you have lots of natural birth mommies around you who would be more than happy to lend out their reading material. :) Good luck and Bless you & the little bean!
