It’s Amina Grace’s Birth Day!
So the day started out quite early for me… I ended up waking up around 4:00 am but was so grateful that Carol was able to sleep thought the night. She rolled out of bed around 8:00 am and we quickly got ready and headed over to the Black Diamond Bakery for some yummy breakfast. Carol was under strict orders not to eat after 10:00 am so we did it right with French Toast, Eggs and Bacon at around 9:00 am. We then took it easy the rest of the day with a trip over to the coffee shop to sit by the fire and then a stop by Hollywood Video to pick up a few movies for the Hospital stay. After getting home we took a nice nap and Carol jumped in the tub for some more relaxation. By this time it was getting close to our time to leave so I packed up the car and drove over to Ben and Maralee’s, where my sister was anxiously waiting for the fun events to start. We had previously asked Maralee to help us through the day with all the little odds and ends that would come up and to be our very own video\photo ographer. The drive up to the Hospital was pretty uneventful but for the quick stop at Fry’s (a big electronic store) that Carol for some reason wanted to make. And you know what… I just had to oblige her wishes you know! We ended up getting to the Hospital around 3:45 pm where we registered and were escorted to our nice fancy hotel suite! Well at least that is how we played it up. Funny hotel though because they only provided me a little nook in the corner to sleep while Carol got this fancy bed that sits up automatically and all! Oh well…
So Carol was assisted by the wonderful nurses at Evergreen Medical Center into her scrubs and got all prepped for surgery. At around 5:50 pm Doctor Hyde showed up to let us ask any last minute questions and walked us down to the O.R. After given a spinal to numb Carol’s lower haft the baby was out in less than 20 minutes. There were no complications at all and everything was extremely “textbook.” Amina Grace was born at 6:20 pm, 7 pounds 7 ounces and 19 ½ inches long! A perfect little girl! After the nurses looked the baby over they handed her directly to me. I so enjoyed holding Amina right next to Carol for the rest of the surgery. With her little faces, noises, coughs and yawns. After the doctors finished up we were then taken up to our room where Carol was able to hold her close. After a few minutes getting to know her momma, Amina immediately latched on and fed for over an hour! It was so precious and wonderful! We made the rounds with phone calls to all the family and enjoyed many joyous tears from all. Carol has done such a wonderful job and is going to make the best mother ever!
