Deployment of Benjamin Hanses…

This weekend I had the pleasure of attending the Departure Ceremony of the 81st Armored Brigade as they are being deployed to the Middle East out of Fort Lewis. My cussing, Ben Hanses, is apart of the 181st Support Battalion as a medic and will most likely be deployed in Baghdad. This was an exciting event but with underlining feelings of sadness as families were there to say goodbye to their sons and daughters. I was joined by my Uncle Mike and Ante Karron along with Suzanne, Joel and Skyler to stand in support of Ben and his fellow enlisted. I believe that the most touching moments of the event for me were when the families would cheer for their loved ones as each battalion was called on or groups of soldiers would turn towards the crowd. For me though I am very proud of my cousin in his commitments that he has made. I know he never imagined that signing up with the national guard would ever take him into the midst of war but his courage and valor is always present.

I was recently e-mailed a message that was sent out by Lt Col Scot S. Seitz of the Wing Support Squadron 171 to his men. This to me sheds light on the purposes for that which Ben is being set out and I encourage you to read it: Why Iraq is a Huge Success

Some Verses for Ben:? ?

O GOD the Lord, the strength of my salvation, thou hast covered my head in the day of battle.
Psalms 140:7

For thou hast girded me with strength unto the battle: thou hast subdued under me those that rose up against me.
Psalms 18:39
