A Taste of Spring…

Since it’s been a while since I’ve posted I thought I’d grace you all with some thoughts from Carol. Doug took this picture of little flowers beginning to grow in our backyard this afternoon. We were excited to see them popping up from the flower pots so early in the season. It makes me excited for the possibility of doing some gardening this spring/summer! Not that I would have a clue what I’m doing, but it could be a fun hobby to take on… Hearing how wonderful Doug’s dad’s gardening skills are I can hope that some of that is passed along in the family! Well if not at least I know who to go to for hints… :)

After a month and a half of straight rain we’ve begun to see the sun again too! This week has been absolutely beautiful! Today I was driving at lunch time and could see Mt. Rainier in one direction, the Cascades in another direction, and the Olympic Mountains in yet another direction - all covered with beautiful white snow shimmering in the sun and set against a background of the bluest sky. It is good to have days like this to remind me why I love living in the Northwest. Especially after so many weeks of clouds and rain. Although I must say that our grass is greener than I have ever seen it right now - so the rain must be doing some good! Now I can just pray that we will have more of this beautiful sunshine in a week and a half when I have my mid-winter break! We shall see… All I know is that it will be very nice to have a week off in the middle of February for no real reason. This is my first taste of the bonus of working in the schools now. Extra time off! I’m sure that having extra free time will make learning new hobbies like gardening much more successful too!

Now that is more like it! :) Beautiful flowers! The other day Aidan saw a weed and said, “look mommy flowers! I will pick one for mommy!” So precious! We too are enjoying the sunshine :)

Don’t forget whatever you sow you reap. Put some seed in the ground and something will come up. I have radishes already coming up in my garden. My first summer home I will help you put in a garden if Doug doesn’t do his duty.

    We Love you,

    Mom and Dad

Beautiful Picture! There is nothing like the Northwest. I have lived in two other states and been to many others but there is no comparision. We have the best of the best. What are you doing for work? Are you having fun setting up and caring for your new home. I would love to see it.

Kei just reported that our first bulbs have released their beauty this year as well. Of course, it froze this morning, and it’s supposed to continue to be cold the rest of the week…we’ll have to see how hardy those babies are!

LOVE your picture, though…Kei’s trying to convince me to post a picture of ours as well..
    :)
